Islanded in a Stream of Stars

If the Occupy movement should teach you anything, it’s that people are far more amazing than anyone gave them credit for.

We’re lead to believe through the news and the media that people are arrogant, mean, incapable of compassion. That they’re out for themselves and don’t care about you. That they are incapable of being ‘good’ or being ‘right’ if they aren’t exactly like you, from the same culture or community or religion. That people in general are incapable of doing good works or making intelligent choices.

None of these are true. We’ve been lead to believe that they are true, but they aren’t. There are thousands of people involved in this, a diverse group of people who have been willing to put aside their differences and realise that at the very core of life, they want the same things. These are good people.

These are the American People, and we are all a part of them.

Do not forget what we’ve learned here. When this is over and the smoke clears, no matter which side won, DON’T FORGET THIS. Don’t forget how it feels.
